We aim to help develop businesses that promote the circular economy in creative ways – which could be through a new product or service, through upcycling, recycling, by creating events or plays or even installations or artworks!
The 10 week programme will run to include hands on making workshops (inc 3D printer, laser cutter, sewing machines), a visit to a recycling depot, teardowns and opportunities to pitch and present your ideas to industry experts. There is also cash up for grabs to develop your prototype product and test your business. The programme runs in Dover through October, followed by Sheppey in Nov/Dec and Gravesham in 2018 and will create the first youth Circular Economy Network in Kent.
Future Foundry has worked with over 400 young people in Kent through their popular Student Makers Market programme which offers free market stalls and ‘street based’ business training to young creative entrepreneurs.
The Circular Economy is a vision of a world where both the making and using of products wastes nothing. It offers an alternative to the traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) and aims to keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.
